Alessia Mankovskaya

Began to learn to play piano at age 4. During her study at Belarusian National Music College  and (Minsk, Belarus)  she was offered free compositions lessons with one of the leading national composer Igor Luchenok.

When her study was completed she was accepted in Russian Academy of Theatre Arts in Moscow, where she studied singing, acting and philosophy. She continue to study composition privately and collaborate with young theatre directors.

In 2001 Alessia was invited to compose music for Theatre MXAT (Moscow Art Theatre), since then she was writing music for the leading theatre companies. As well as composing music, Alessia was taking a part in theatre performances, TV films and participate in various concerts as a singer. Her music was prized by theatre critics and received awards on various international festivals.

In 2006 Alessia went to London, to continue her education.     

Her study for Master Degree at Trinity College of Music was kindly supported by Butler  and Offenheim scholarships.  She won English Song Competition; Elisabeth Shuman Lieder Prize and Padua International Music Competition in category Opera singing. She was a finalist of  Stuart Burrows Vocal Award, Ralph Welsh Dramatic Voices Competition  and Bayreuth Bursary Competition, organized by Wagner Society (London).  She sung main roles in ‘La Boheme’ (European Chamber Opera), Dame of Spade ( Maly Zal, Moscow), The Barber of Seville (Grimeborn Opera Festival), Marriage of Figaro (Stanislavsky Opera House) and many others.

She performed in Royal Palace (Madrid) in front of the Queen of Spain Sofia and Kaiser Palace (Munich) for Bavarian government. The newspapers all over Europe give her epithets such as ‘extatic soprano’, ‘the most wonderful voice’ and ‘rising opera star’.

Alessia combines composing music with a successful operatic career.

Studied a Master in Music Performance at Trinity College of Music, London, with professor Rivka Golani, graduating in 2008. Highlight performances since then include: 'Russian Music Festival' (München 2009), St Martin in the Fields (London 2008), Chipping Camden Festival (2008), Madrid Royal Palace, in front of the Queen Sofia (2009), soloist with the Brunelleschi Ensemble at St Paul's Church (Covent Garden 2009 and 2010), York Contemporary Music festival (2010), among others.
He is specially keen on interdisciplinary collaborations, having performed in some of the best London dance theatres such as 'The Place' (2009-2011) and the Bonnie Bird Theatre (2008, 2009).
In 2008 he created the company '"El Pajarito Theatre" with singer and composer Alessia Mankovskaya as a platform for collaborative art projects including Grotovski and Commedia Dell Arte Techniques, having directed "Marat Sade a Fantasy" (2008), "Nostalgy Tango Cabaret", (2009), "La Finta Semplice" by Mozart (2009), "Mozart and Salieri" by Pushkin (2010), "La Finta Giardiniera" by Mozart (2010) and "Ludus de Antichristo" (2011). He is currently studying an MA in Text and Performance at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London, alongside with his freelance engagements as a performer and director with companies such as Mumuki Music and Dance Company, Polish Dance Theatre, King's College London,etc.
